Rekhu Assistant in Arabic, and right to left

The chat widget follows right-to-left pages and speaks Arabic and Dutch as well as English; the greeting comes from your back end in the user's language.

An assistant inside an Arabic app has to read and sit the way the app does. From today it does.

  • Right to left. On a right-to-left page (Arabic, Hebrew) the chat button and panel sit on the left, text reads from right to left and the arrows point the right way. Nothing to set: the widget follows the page. dir: 'rtl' or 'ltr' forces one.
  • Its own words in the user's language. "Send", "New", "Confirm", the placeholder and the messages when something goes wrong come in English, Arabic or Dutch, by the page's language. The texts option gives your own words for any of them.
  • What your back end says, in that language. When the assistant is not available or a limit is reached, the user reads it in their language, from the server package, instead of a fixed English line.
  • One greeting, in every language. Set the greeting once in your back end, as a text or one per language. A Nuxt, Next or mobile front end shows it without setting it again.

Versions: @rekhu/assistant-widget 0.1.3, rekhu/assistant-laravel 0.4.1 (with the widget built in) and @rekhu/assistant-node 0.2.2. The Laravel package also gets REKHU_ASSISTANT_ROUTE_PAGES=false, for an API whose users' pages all live in its own front end.
